Speaking

I am passionate about providing education and training to healthcare professionals on the topics of diabetes, disordered eating, behavior change, Health at Every Size, and techniques for working with adolescents and young adults.

When possible, I will provide names of individuals with more marginalized identities than myself, such as fat, Black, indigenous and other people of color who have been historically passed over for opportunities such as this to speak to your organization instead of myself. By doing this, we take steps to work toward being less likely to overlook the important perspectives of people not often heard, thereby increasing our understanding of the topic and decreasing risk of harm.

For reference, some of the presentations I have given include:

  • Prevention and Treatment of Co-Occurring Eating Disorders and Diabetes

  • A Weight-Inclusive Approach in Diabetes Care

  • GLP-1s in Diabetes Care from a Weight-Inclusive Lens

  • Working with Adolescents and Young Adults with Diabetes

  • Motivational Interviewing for Healthcare Providers

I live and work on the traditional and unceded land of the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish Tribe.

I pay rent to the tribe as a way of standing in solidarity as they have yet to be justly compensated for their land, resources, and livelihood. I encourage you to learn more about the land you occupy and consider paying rent to the Duwamish Tribe.
